Collectively, snapshots are a visual medium of abundance. Not only have billions been made, but there is something in the ease & freedom of snapshot photography that allows it to record every nuance of life.
That said, we have to admit that most are common, boring or simply mundane. Yet there are others that pop & excite in a different way. It may be a certain blend of colors, an expression or gesture, a blurred motion, a voyeuristic snare---whatever the case, they are images we instantly love.
Snapshot Blowup is No. 1 in a series of periodic exhibitions featuring seven such images from our vintage photography archive.
The goal was to create something more dynamic than a mere photographic enlargement. Each piece is comprised of tiled segments that form a compelling gridded image when mounted on the wall. The digitally printed tiles are 11 inches square & can be mounted in a variety of ways. We used
